LEWISTARIANISM
A RELIGION FOR STUDENT FREEDOM

HOMEWORK
IS WRONG
The Lewistarian Church believes the home is a sacred place. To have mandatory work assigned to be completed outside of school is a spiritual and moral travesty. Lewistarians seek religious exemption from homework.

ABOUT US
BACKGROUND
THE FOUNDER
Lewistarianism can find its roots in early 2015, when founder Lewis Benston was struggling through 7th grade without ADHD medicine. After many hours of fighting through math and English homework, Lewis had an epiphany. "If I create a religion where homework is wrong, I can not do any homework and claim religious exemption!", he thought. Lewis failed 2 classes, but was undeterred. He put his religion on hold (at the frantic urging of his parents), until the Sunday November 26, 2017. With school looming after an unproductive Thanksgiving break, Lewis realized he could bring back Lewistarianism. After widespread support, he designed this website to liberate students far and wide.
Lewis Benston is the founder and leader of Lewistarianism. Lewis is passionate about pineapples, explaining their symbolic significance in Lewistarianism. Our leader is a charismatic, outgoing, sociable person. When he isn't out being social , he rests at his home, finding peace. Homework disrupts this peaceful environment. He sees them as worthy of worship, but that's a religion for another time. Lewis has had a passionate hate for homework since Kindergarten. After his epiphany experience in 7th grade where he realized how truly evil homework was, he adopted his current views on homework. These can be found in "Philosophy" section.
PHILOSOPHY
Fundamentally, the Lewistarian church believes homework is deeply wrong. To do homework as a Lewistarian is to have your identity insulted. The home, as posited by founder and leader, is a sacred bubble of relaxation. Homework pops this metaphorical bubble. Work is societally necessary, and schoolwork is necessary to prepare youth for work. Homework, however, is an unnecessary burden that stunts the growth of our youth in more important ways than their education into becoming a worker: their social and mental health. Outside of school is a student's chance to interact with friends and form memories, as well as relax and explore personal interests. Homework is a moral crisis in this country, and for Lewistarians homework is against their personal beliefs. Forcing a Lewistarian to do homework is one of the worst offenses man can commit. This is why religious exemption from homework is necessary.
